Wherein Paul & Maria Attended an International Symposium in Yokohama; Rode the Celebrated Shinkansen; Visited Mount Fuji, Nara, ... The Recorded Journeys of Paul & Maria Martin)

A Record of a Most Curious Journey

What began as a journey to an international engineering symposium soon became something altogether richer. From the quiet shrines of Yokohama to the volcanic valleys of Hakone... from the shadow of Mount Fuji to the ancient temples of Kyoto... we found ourselves wandering through a nation where eight centuries may stand comfortably beside tomorrow's technology.

Along the way we encountered sacred deer that bow for crackers, pirate ships sailing volcanic lakes, bullet trains that cross half a country in the time it once took to saddle a horse, artisans preserving centuries-old crafts, and engineers quietly shaping the future.

This volume preserves those moments—not as a formal guidebook, but as a personal journal filled with photographs, observations, bits of history, unexpected humor, and the countless small discoveries that rarely appear on ordinary itineraries.
